The following work was created in the spring of 2006 and is a re-examination of the Hero's Journey. It takes the popular structure and reworks it for modern times. It addresses the moral and ethical questions that come about in today's world and also attempts to give a sense of sentiment to the story that has been passed down for thousands of years. Along those lines, it was meant to be a simple and direct story that was approachable by anyone young or old. It is the first in a series of short stories based around the adventures of children on the verge of coming into their own. It is meant to reflect a world of wonder as well as a world of consequence. The characters must struggle to overcome their ordeals and through this, find a place for themselves as they take the first steps to becoming adults.
