The Lion, as part of a series of short stories dealing in communication without words, focusses on the idea of the mask. We wear masks every day. When we put on a tie, talk to friends, or write an e-mail we tell the outside world who we are, or rather who we are trying to be. At heart we are all animals and all of civilization is merely an attempt at masking this fact.
This story tries to find out what happens when we take off all of these masks and put on another, one that strips us of all self-restraint and lets the animal inside us take over.
